# Loomlocale

> Loomlocale is a hosted translation service for Next.js App Router apps. Write strings in one language; run `npx next-tongue` and Loomlocale translates them into the languages you choose and keeps them in sync. Only new or changed keys are billed, and ICU placeholders, plurals and rich tags are validated before any file is written.

## Pricing facts (GBP, ex-VAT)

- Free: £0, a one-time 50,000 characters (add a card to claim, no charge; never resets), 1 project, then prepaid credit at £25 per 1M.
- Pay as you go: £25 per 1,000,000 characters, no monthly fee, £50 default monthly spend cap (editable).
- Pro: £19/month, 1,000,000 characters included (effective £19 per million), then £22 per million.
- Team: £49/month, 3,000,000 characters included (effective £16.33 per million), then £20 per million; 5 seats, EU-only processing.
- Billed characters = source characters × target languages actually translated. Unchanged keys and cache hits are free.
- Engine: OpenAI gpt-4.1-mini with gpt-4o-mini as automatic fallback, run server-side. No customer API keys.
